What Email Marketing Tools Should I Use in 2023?
In 2023, which email marketing tools will have the most impact? It’s impossible to know for sure, but we can make some educated guesses based on the trends of today, and what the email marketing landscape will look like then. Join us as we take a look at the top 5 email marketing tools for 2022 and how they might change your strategy!
Free Autoresponders
We do not recommend free autoresponders. The only time a free tool can be an option is if you have less than 100 subscribers and little-to-no revenue. For example, a new e-commerce business that uses Shopify and Mailchimp may get away with using a free autoresponder for their newsletter to customers until they start seeing real revenue from their store. The reason is that when your list grows larger, you want to make sure every subscriber opens your emails. In order to track whether or not each one of your subscribers is opening your messages, you’ll need to invest in software that allows A/B testing and more advanced analytics reporting. Otherwise, it’s possible many of your subscribers will never open any message sent through Mailchimp or another similar platform – leading to low engagement rates.
Free Marketing Tools
There are two questions that you’ll want to answer to help you make your decision: What do my customers need? And what do they want, but aren’t asking for? Both of these will determine which kind of platform is best. Platforms like MailChimp and ActiveCampaign offer free versions (with some limitations) that are great options for many businesses. Other businesses need more robust solutions—for instance if you have data about your customers and a number of different products or services to sell. Then again, just because one solution fits your needs today doesn’t mean it will always be a good fit; as technology changes over time so might your business needs. In that case, consider platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Oracle Eloqua; they offer plans with various price points depending on your specific needs.
Paid Tools ($15-$300)
MailChimp and Aweber are two tried-and-true companies that offer affordable templates, analytics, and automation. If you’re just starting out, you might not need anything more than what they offer. However, it’s important to note that these platforms don’t do much on their own: to really make your emails work for you and drive engagement, you’ll want a tool like Litmus or Inspectlet (which can both help monitor which emails worked best). For Facebook ads, we recommend AdEspresso or Revealbot; Leadpages is another great option if you want to build landing pages of your own design. That said, with all of these tools—as well as any other platform where—you’ll have a learning curve ahead of you; take time to master them before delving into paid ads.

List Builders
Email list builders are software and apps that allow you to grow your email subscriber base quickly. One of these apps is called Growthstreet, which allows you to easily build a list using Instagram or Facebook. There are plenty of other tools out there too that make it easy for beginners to start building an email list like Mailchimp and ConvertKit. All of these brands offer free trials if you want to check them out before investing your money. If you’re on a budget, consider Hootsuite (you’ll have to pay $2 per month) as it can help track all of your social media platforms. This would be very helpful as social media changes rapidly with new apps coming online every day!
A/B Testing Tools
Optimizely and Visual Website Optimizer are both popular A/B testing platforms that work with most major email platforms. The nice thing about A/B testing is that you can use it to determine which emails perform best for your target audience without spending any money. Additionally, companies like MailChimp and Emma (both of which we talk about later) offer built-in A/B testing capabilities. So you may want to look into one of these options if they work better with your existing setup. In many cases, though, using a dedicated service like Optimizely or VWO will give you more robust results due to the higher volume of visitors used during tests. And, as an added bonus, many of these services come with heatmaps that track user behavior on pages within your site; so even if you don’t send emails directly through them, they can still provide useful insights!
Analytics Tools
Gathering data is just as important as using it, and these days there are a ton of analytics platforms to help you track how well your campaigns are performing. Google Analytics is still a trusted tool for many marketers, but there are plenty of other options on the market for example Fathom, and Supermetrics which are also great. Whichever one you choose will depend on what kind of analysis you’re trying to do and how many resources you want to invest—but all will give you valuable insight into where your readers are coming from and what content they care about most. If you don’t have any budget to dedicate toward an analytics platform, consider putting together a simple spreadsheet and tracking page views manually; just set up markers that tell you when you need to update your Google Analytics tracking code (any time pages change significantly or more than once per month) and keep careful track of which links get clicks.
